I am course director of the MPhil in Psychoanalytic Studies and Assistant Professor of Clinical Psychology at Trinity College Dublin. I have trained as a psychoanalytic psychotherapist and clinical psychologist. I have previously held the role of course director of the MSc in Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy at Trinity College Dublin, in its collaboration with Irish Institute of Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy and the Irish Institution of Child and Adolescent Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy; as well as a clinical psychologist, including as a principal clinical psychologist, specialising in adult mental health. . I support students engaging in psychoanalytically-informed qualitative research. In my role, alongside my psychoanalytic interest, I see myself as a critical psychologist, concerned about the overall direction of psychological science, with a loss of the sense of the whole person and the significance of social, societal, cultural and historical influences.
