Stephen Rudder
Bio :
Stephen Rudder is a psychodynamic psychotherapist working in private practice and at South London and Maudsley NHS Trust. He is a doctoral candidate at the University of Essex, where his research examines a Black male clinical dyad within the colonial symbolic order of psychoanalytic therapy. He is a co-founder of South East London Mind’s Black River Counselling Service and an award-winning audio-visual artist. In his creative health practice, Stephen explores themes of mental health through collaboration with community groups to bring a quality of deep insight to the multimedia works. He has been commissioned by organisations such as UNESCO, Wellcome Trust, Science Gallery International, and King’s College London. From this foundation, Stephen pushes to increase engagement with the intersection between Black men and mental health services and has developed and led several successful group projects, including Hood Mentality, Black Men’s Minds and Undisciplined Thought.
